Journal bearing centered assembly

Cross-sectional or cutaway engineering view of a plain cylindrical journal bearing assembly. A steel journal shaft passes through the center of a thick-walled outer sleeve or bushing, forming a full 360-degree sleeve bearing. The shaft is centered within the smooth inner bore, leaving a very narrow uniform annular clearance gap that represents the lubricating oil film. The outer shell is metallic gray steel or bronze/brass-toned, sometimes with a thin bronze bearing lining inside a gray outer housing. Surfaces are clean and machined, with simple industrial geometry and no rolling elements.
