Retina cross section

A cross-sectional view of the retina shown as a thin curved multilayered strip or band lining the inside back of the eye. The tissue forms a smooth concave arc with stacked cellular layers or subtle banding. Colors vary across the layers in pink, tan, cream, pale yellow, light lavender, and purple to emphasize retinal structure. A distinct darker pigmented outer layer may run along one edge, with lighter inner neural layers arranged toward the vitreous side. The appearance is that of a clean anatomical diagram of the retina's organized microscopic layers hugging the inside of the eyeball.
