Cluster of white adipose tissue shown as a compact, soft lobulated mass of tightly packed adipocytes with a bubbly honeycomb-like appearance. The cells are large, round to slightly polygonal, and slightly flattened where they contact adjacent cells. Each adipocyte has a pale yellow, cream, or white appearance with a single oversized lipid droplet occupying most of the cell, creating a clear or pale center, leaving only a very thin rim of cytoplasm and delicate cell border. Many cells show a small flattened nucleus displaced to the periphery. Very little intercellular material is visible.
