Sertoli cell

A tall Sertoli supporting cell of the seminiferous epithelium with an elongated irregular columnar body extending from the basement membrane toward the lumen. The cell has pale cytoplasm in pink-beige or tan tones, soft indistinct boundaries, and branching lateral cytoplasmic extensions that wrap around neighboring developing germ cells. Its shape may be broad-based, triangular to columnar, with irregular contours suggesting enveloping support. A prominent oval to slightly triangular darker nucleus is positioned toward the base or off-center near the basal region.
