Tight junction

Close-up 2D schematic of a tight junction between two adjacent epithelial cells near the apical edge of their lateral membranes. The neighboring plasma membranes are pressed tightly together with little to no visible intercellular gap, forming a narrow belt-like sealing region at the apical border. Show parallel membrane edges with a thin dark fused contact line, short dark band, or zipper-like sealing strands along the apposed membranes, including tiny dense contact points and subtle branching bead-like ridges to suggest the sealing network. Overall the junction should appear compact, flattened, and simplified in a microscopic or clipart-style view.
