Oxyntic gland

A long straight to slightly branched oxyntic gastric gland from the body of the stomach, shown as an elongated tubular invagination extending deep into the mucosa with a narrow central lumen. The gland has a short neck and deeper secretory portion lined by densely packed epithelial cells. Mixed cell types are visible: pale mucous neck cells in the upper neck region, large round acid-secreting parietal cells with pink eosinophilic cytoplasm scattered through the gland wall, and smaller darker basophilic chief cells concentrated in the deeper portion. Overall appearance is pale pink and glandular, with the tubular structure extending downward from the mucosal surface.
