An elongated fusiform encapsulated muscle spindle proprioceptor embedded within skeletal muscle, spindle-shaped with tapered ends. A thin pale beige to pale pink connective tissue capsule encloses several slender parallel intrafusal muscle fibers running lengthwise. The central receptor region is slightly expanded, clear or nonstriated, and wrapped by coiled yellow spiral sensory nerve endings around the middle. Fine nerve fibers enter from the ends, and small motor nerve endings may be present near the polar ends. Rendered as a neat anatomical diagram in soft pink, cream, and beige tones with pale yellow nerve elements.
