Rubrospinal tract

A slender descending nerve fiber bundle representing the rubrospinal tract, shown as a compact elongated fascicle of pale yellow to yellow-white myelinated fibers with fine parallel striations. The tract has a smooth, slightly curved or tapered course and is cleanly outlined, appearing thinner than a major tract such as the corticospinal tract. In cross-sectional context, it appears as a small narrow colored strip in the lateral white matter of the spinal cord, distinct from adjacent tracts; in pathway context, it can be shown emerging from the red nucleus region and descending toward the spinal cord as a bundled line.
