Cross-sectional or side-profile view of the continental slope as a relatively steep submerged incline descending seaward from the shelf break at the outer edge of the continental shelf into the deeper ocean basin. Show a clear transition from the flatter continental shelf above to a broad, pronounced sloping face with a sharper gradient than both the shelf and the basin below. The seafloor surface is generally smooth to sediment-draped with subtle roughness, faint layering, and muted gray-brown, tan, beige, brown, or blue-gray tones; include occasional incised gullies, light incision, or small areas of sharper rocky relief.
