Branching coral colony

A hard reef-building branching coral colony with multiple fingerlike or antlerlike calcified branches arising from a broad common base. The colony appears rigid and stony rather than soft, with a rough, knobby, porous surface covered in many tiny round corallite cups or polyp openings. Coloration is natural and muted, ranging from pale cream, beige, and tan to pale pink or pinkish orange. The overall form may be a compact cluster of short upright branches with rounded tips or a somewhat more open branching structure, but always as a single branching stony coral colony.
