Membrane-bound Y-shaped immunoglobulin receptor resembling an antibody, with two identical long heavy chains and two shorter light chains arranged symmetrically to form two outward-facing antigen-binding arms and a central stem. The upper arm tips are variable regions for antigen binding, while the lower arm portions and stem are more uniform constant regions. Small hinge connections with disulfide bond links are present where the arms meet the stem. A short hydrophobic transmembrane anchoring segment extends from the base of the stem into the membrane region. The protein may be depicted as a smooth pale blue structure or as paired ribbon-like chains.
