Front or anatomical view of the thoracic diaphragm as an isolated broad dome-shaped musculotendinous sheet forming the partition between thorax and abdomen. It appears as a double-domed, parachute-like arch with right and left hemidiaphragms, the right dome slightly higher than the left. The peripheral portion is thin reddish-pink to reddish-brown skeletal muscle radiating inward toward a broad, pale whitish central tendon. The superior contour is smoothly convex, the inferior aspect concave, and the margins taper to thin peripheral attachments along a broad curved lower rim.
