Branched artery

Internal carotid artery shown as an isolated medium-to-large caliber smooth red arterial tube with thick elastic walls and a rounded lumen. The vessel arises from the carotid bifurcation with mild expansion at its origin, then ascends vertically through the neck in a relatively straight to slightly sinuous course with subtle bends and a gentle superior curve toward the skull base. It has a clean cylindrical contour, minimal taper, and appears slightly narrower than the common carotid but larger than neighboring smaller arteries such as cerebral branches or the vertebral artery. The depicted cervical segment is unbranched, with no major visible external branches, and may be shown with cleanly cut ends exposing circular lumens.
