Facial nerve

Isolated facial nerve shown as a pale yellow to yellow cranial nerve with a cord-like main trunk of slender to moderate thickness. The trunk is gently curved, sometimes with subtle bends or slight flattening near its origin, and divides distally into multiple fine peripheral branches that taper outward in a delicate fan-like or tree-like arborizing pattern suitable for facial innervation diagrams. It may be shown emerging from the brainstem, coursing through the temporal bone, with a subtle enlargement near the geniculate region before dividing into terminal branches.
