Ethmoid bone

Delicate pale ivory to off-white ethmoid bone shown as a small complex midline cranial bone with a cuboidal central mass, a perforated horizontal cribriform plate, and a thin vertical median plate descending downward. An upward midline crest (crista galli) projects above the cribriform region. On each side are fragile boxlike ethmoidal labyrinths or lateral masses containing multiple small honeycomb-like air cells, with thin-walled, lattice-like structure and subtle scroll-like projections. Overall appearance is light, intricate, angular, and more fragile than neighboring skull bones.
