Great saphenous vein

Long superficial great saphenous vein of the medial lower limb, shown as an elongated bluish to bluish-purple tubular vessel with thin delicate walls and a broad lumen. The vessel has a smooth slightly flattened, straight to gently sinuous ascending course with a gently tapering form, appearing larger than small cutaneous tributaries yet more delicate and superficial than deep veins. Include a few small tributary branches arising along its length, especially near the upper end, and subtle evenly spaced venous valves visible as faint internal bulges or beadlike intervals.
