A complete isolated human femur shown in full anatomical form as a single long thigh bone, colored pale ivory to off-white or light beige cortical bone. Proximally it has a rounded spherical femoral head on a narrow neck with prominent greater and lesser trochanters. The shaft is long, thick, cylindrical to slightly bowed, with a generally smooth cortical surface and subtle roughened muscle attachment landmarks. Distally the bone broadens into large medial and lateral condyles with smooth articular regions; the bulky condyles are separated posteriorly by a deep intercondylar fossa.
