Frontal bone

A large broad frontal bone in pale ivory to off-white, shell-like and fan-shaped, forming the forehead and anterior cranial vault. The external surface is smooth and gently convex with a rounded frontal squama, broad curved contours, and a plate-like form that is slightly thicker along parts of the margins. Along the inferior border are the superior supraorbital margins, and broad orbital plates extend horizontally backward as thin flat shelves to form the roof of the orbits. The sutural borders are irregular to subtly scalloped or serrated, especially posteriorly where the bone articulates with the parietal bones. The inner surface is gently concave to relatively flat in section.
